The Express hosted the Roc City Royals this past weekend, hoping to avenge a pair of opening weekend losses. Unfortunately, the Express fell in both games this weekend. However, they were able to salvage 2 points after taking both games to overtime.
In Saturday's game, it seemed like the team didn't really have their heads in it. The goal tending, under the laser-sharp focus of Sal Stalteri, was definitely a highlight. He made some spectacular saves in the 5-4 loss.
Mark Friol and Ryan Logar each scored 2 goals in the game.
Goal tending again was a highlight on Sunday as Tim Schiess made one phenomenal save after another. At the other end of the ice, Roc City's netminder, Ian Stahl, was just as great with similar saves.
Sunday's game also saw a great defensive effort by Devin Kasperek and Gibson Stuart. Ryan Logar and Sam Rydzewski each scored a goal for the Express. The final result was 3-2 after a shootout.
Next up for the Express is a pair of home games at Cornerstone Arena Saturday and Sunday against Syracuse Stampede. Game time Saturday is 7pm, while face off Sunday is at 1pm.
